"I saw a need and came to answer"

From Stagnation to Purpose: Ibrahim’s Journey Back to School

When Ibrahim joined Twende in 2021, he had been stuck academically for about 10 years. He was supporting himself as a janitor, selling groceries or flashlights and other menial jobs to earn a living. Since being given the chance to return to school for a Bachelor's of Medical Imaging and be sharpened through mentorship and Christian fellowship, he has become a blessing to his community. During his training, he found mothers were traveling up to 40km to seek care during pregnancy. He intentionally established an imaging center in Bushenyi district to meet the need for excellent and accurate diagnostic services closer to these patients' homes. Instead of seeking a comfortable job in the city, he saved money from his early clinical practice to purchase an ultrasound machine and began renting a building in a small town to meet the needs of these mothers and other patients.

Serving His Community Through Healthcare and Ministry

Ibrahim also preaches on the Full Sprouting Radio program and is serving at Life Center Church. When it came time to marry, he chose to hold his wedding at Life Center Church, despite it being a young church in a temporary building at the end of a muddy road. The following was written by Ibrahim and speaks to his commitment to serve the Lord through the ministry of Life Center Church and Twende:"While I meditated on our upcoming wedding last year, the LORD gave me two scriptures in November regarding the function and its preparations: Revelations 3:8-10 and 1 Cor 3:6-8. I shared these scriptures with my bride to be and we upheld them as our words of prophecy. They encouraged us throughout the tough times whenever we thought about how our wedding was going to be. We had planned to make it a simple wedding but God cut our words on our lips and told us not to limit His ability since He's the one that causes our things to grow.

A Wedding of Faith, Vision, and Commitment

"I wanted our wedding to be a three-fold ministry to depict what has been characterizing the message God told me to preach (Faith, Hope & Love).

  1. A demonstration of God's love. This was to show how God found me in ashes and gave me a belonging and identity in Twende. It was to show that we have a home at Life Center Church (LCC) because we prayed for a command post a few years ago and God answered us. So why would I take our wedding to some other place yet God has given us the promised land?

  2. It was a ministry to our parents. We wanted to show them that we have spiritual parents raising us, we are not just wanderers. We have a home they can always come and find us. We're accountable to certain authority and we are proud of our identity in Christ thriving within Twende.

  3. It was to inspire our Twende students who are disjointed or still doubt about our DNA as Twende/LCC. Since our ministry land is in the valley, we often liken it to the valley of dry bones in Ezekiel 37. We therefore intended that our wedding in this valley of Kafunjo would become a public statement that God is raising a mighty army and we're the army. So I wanted our students to apprehend & fall in love with what God has, is and is yet to do for us as a ministry.

"And to minister to our beloved congregation at LCC, we wanted them to know that we have come to stay and believe in faith that works. We do what we preach!! So they should be inspired to also do likewise. It was a journey of faith since I had just gotten out of school, actually partially still at school but God was faithful to His word. The ministry at the reception was an unspeakable event that will leave an imprint in the hearts of our parents and brethren at LCC."

Would you join me in prayer for Ibrahim and his wife?

—For growth as a couple, as they learn how to love and submit to each other in this journey of marriage

—For growth in his clinic in Bushenyi

—for an X-ray machine and CBC machine for blood testing

—For God's clarity and boldness as they take steps into ministry at LCC and Twende
